Until 1945 a German field airstrip was located here. In 1953 the site officially passed to Soviet troops, who enlarged it and built a 2,450-metre concrete runway. The Soviet units left the airfield in 1992, and in 1993 the land was handed to the municipality of Gromadka; from 1997 the plots became part of the Legnica Special Economic Zone.
