The Podczele military settlement was built in 1935–1939 for the staff of the German airfield at Bagicz. From March 1945 the airfield and the settlement were used by Soviet troops; about 2,000 servicemen were stationed here, and in the 1960s the airfield was modernised and the settlement enlarged. In spring 1992 the Soviet units left Bagicz, and in the same year Podczele was incorporated into the administrative boundaries of Kołobrzeg.
