Until 1968 the barracks in Bohdaneč were used by a Czechoslovak road bridge battalion. On 7–9 October 1968 the premises were handed over to Soviet troops and housed an anti-aircraft regiment and a radio-technical regiment. The anti-aircraft regiment was withdrawn in June 1990 and the radio-technical regiment between November 1990 and April 1991; the garrison was among the last in the country to be handed over.
