The barracks on the outskirts of Česká Třebová were built after the Second World War for the Czechoslovak railway troops. In autumn 1968 they were taken over by Soviet troops — a motor rifle regiment was stationed here, and panel apartment blocks were built for servicemen's families. The regiment was withdrawn on 15–27 April 1990, and on 4 May 1990 the sites were handed over to civilian users; the apartment blocks became the town's Borek housing estate.
