The plant was one of the '156 projects' of China's First Five-Year Plan; preparations began in July 1953 and the workshops were erected with the help of Soviet specialists. On 30 April 1958 it produced China's first 2.5-metre double-drum mine hoist, and on 31 October 1958 construction was completed and accepted.

Завод входил в число «156 проектов» первой пятилетки КНР; подготовка к строительству началась в июле 1953 года, корпуса возводились с помощью советских специалистов. 30 апреля 1958 года завод изготовил первую в Китае двухбарабанную подъёмную машину диаметром 2,5 м, а 31 октября 1958 года строительство было завершено и принято.
