ChinaСаньмэнься1957–1961Energy
The first large hydro project on the main stream of the Yellow River. It was designed for China by the Leningrad branch of the Soviet Hydroelectric Design Institute; construction began on 13 April 1957, the reservoir was filled in September 1960 and the main dam works were completed in April 1961. Because of sedimentation the project was later reconstructed twice; the dam is 106 m high and the power plant has an installed capacity of 450 MW.
