The marine terminal building was opened on 15 December 1955 to a design by Karo Alabyan and Leonid Karlik. The central tower with its spire reaches 71 metres, and its tiers are decorated with sculptural allegories of the seasons and the cardinal directions. The facades are faced with travertine and marble.
