A five-storey limestone Renaissance-style town house built in 1902–1903 to a design by Carrère and Hastings for banker John Henry Hammond; a New York City landmark since 1974. The Soviet Union bought it in 1975 for a consulate general and in 1978 added the adjacent No. 11 for housing. The opening was put off in January 1980 and the house stood empty; after a 1992–1994 restoration it opened as the Consulate General of Russia.
