The Považské Barracks behind the manor house of the town were built in the 1930s (completed in 1933 according to a local publication) for the Czechoslovak army. In October 1968 the Czechoslovak units stationed there were moved to other garrisons and the barracks were handed over to Soviet troops; they housed a motor rifle regiment of the division headquartered in Zvolen. The regiment was withdrawn in September–December 1990, and in December 1990 the barracks were taken over by the Czechoslovak army.
