An Orthodox church on Słowackiego Street built in the 1840s, when the town was part of the Kingdom of Poland within the Russian Empire: according to the chram.com.pl catalogue the plot was bought for 5,000 roubles, the cornerstone was laid on 5 May 1846 and the church was consecrated on 28 November 1848 (Polish Wikipedia gives 1844–1847). From May 1869, on the governor's initiative, the building was enlarged and a vestibule with a bell tower was added. It is entered in the monument register of Łódź Voivodeship (No. 265 of 7 October 1976) and serves as a co-cathedral of the Diocese of Łódź and Poznań.
