The masonry parish church was built on the site of an earlier wooden one and consecrated in 1890; the village was then part of the Kingdom of Poland within the Russian Empire, and from 1875 the parish belonged to the Chełm–Warsaw eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church. Sources differ on the designer: the website of the Lublin–Chełm diocese names the architect W. Przecławski, Polish Wikipedia names Viktor Sychugov. After the residents were evacuated in 1915 the church stood unused for several years; today it is a parish church of the Terespol deanery, restored under the East Slavic cultural heritage conservation project.
The monument register of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage of Poland (Lublin Voivodeship; as of 30 June 2026) lists the building as the Orthodox Church of the Protection of the Mother of God, late 19th century (No. A/1119 of 18 November 1997).
