PolandВаршава1883–1908Military sites
A fort of the outer ring of the Warsaw Fortress on its southern sector, between the roads to Kraków and Puławy; according to the register of monuments it was built in 1883–1894 and modernised in 1906–1908; the Kingdom of Poland was then part of the Russian Empire. The pentagonal work had a brick gorge barracks of 20 casemates, and during modernisation it received a concrete counterscarp caponier, rare in Warsaw. After 1909 the fort was partly dismantled, and later the moat and courtyard were flooded; the army used the site until the 1990s.
