1883–1888Military sites
A fort of the outer ring of the Warsaw Fortress, built in 1883–1888 to the 1879 model design south of the Warsaw–Vienna railway; the Kingdom of Poland was then part of the Russian Empire. The pentagonal work with a dry moat and two ramparts had brick caponiers and a gorge barracks of 18 casemates; the caponiers were later replaced in concrete and blown up after 1909. Since 2008 the Włochy district office of Warsaw has been adapting the site for recreation and sport; the fort was entered in the register of monuments in 2010, and the barracks and a postern survive.
