The former palace of the archbishops of Gniezno, built in 1610–1619. In 1820 Alexander I gave the Skierniewice estates to Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich, and after the death of his wife in 1831 the Duchy of Łowicz became the property of the imperial family; the Kingdom of Poland was then part of the Russian Empire. The palace served for rest and hunting; in the 19th century it was rebuilt to designs by Ippolit Monighetti and an English park was laid out around it. In September 1884 Alexander III met Emperors Wilhelm I and Franz Joseph I here. After the First World War the palace housed an experimental station of the Warsaw agricultural university (SGGW).
