The church on today's Millennium Square was built as an Orthodox church to a design by the architect Jakimowski when Siedlce was part of the Kingdom of Poland within the Russian Empire: in 1868–1869 according to the city website, in 1866–1869 according to Polish Wikipedia. The building originally had Byzantine-style features and five domes; it remained an Orthodox church until 1919. In 1928–1933 it was rebuilt to a design by Michał Sławiński in modernist forms as a Roman Catholic garrison church.
