According to Polish Wikipedia, the church was built in 1895 as the garrison Church of Sts Zechariah and Elizabeth at the barracks of the Kharkov Uhlan Regiment in Białystok, then within the Russian Empire. In 1919 the barracks were taken over by the Polish army; the church was converted into a Catholic church and given a new architectural treatment. In 1975 a parish was established at the church, and on 11 January 1990 the plot was separated from the barracks grounds and passed into the ownership of the parish.
