The masonry Orthodox church was built in 1900–1905 in a village then part of the Kingdom of Poland within the Russian Empire; according to Polish Wikipedia it was dedicated to St. John the Theologian and designed by Aleksandr Puring, architect of the Chełm eparchy. The Orthodox parish, formed after 1875 in place of a Greek Catholic one, existed here until the Second World War. In May 1946 a Roman Catholic parish was established in Krupe; the building serves as its church.
