The brick garrison Church of the Dormition formed part of the barracks complex of the 64th Kazan Infantry Regiment in Białystok, then within the Russian Empire. The monument register dates the building to about 1884; according to Polish Wikipedia it was built after 1888 to a design by the military engineer F. M. Wierzbicki. After 1918 the barracks were taken over by the 42nd Infantry Regiment of the Polish Army and the church became a military Roman Catholic church; since 1973 it has been a parish church.
