The church on Aleje Racławickie was built as an Orthodox regimental church for the army and police when Lublin was part of the Kingdom of Poland within the Russian Empire: in 1904 by soldiers of the 18th Artillery Brigade according to the parish, in 1904–1906 according to the Encyclopedia of Lublin. In 1915 the church was closed; after 1918 the building was adapted for Catholic worship in the Polish Army. In 1927–1932 it was rebuilt to plans by the engineer Władysław Wojciechowski, with the roof and the top of the tower altered.
