The Orthodox parish of St. Nicholas was founded in Amsterdam in 1974, with services in Church Slavonic and Dutch. In 2005 the parish moved to the Tichelkerk, a monastery church in the Jordaan district built in 1912 by the Capuchin order; the building at Lijnbaansgracht 47 became its own church. For many years the parish belonged to the Moscow Patriarchate, and in 2022 it was received into the Exarchate of the Benelux of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
