The Atabak Park estate in central Tehran was rented by the Russian legation from a Russian bank in Persia from September 1915. After the 1921 treaty between Soviet Russia and Persia the Soviet mission was housed here by agreement with the Iranian side. From 28 November to 1 December 1943 the embassy building hosted the Tehran Conference of Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill. The main house is attributed to the Iranian architect Mirza Mehdi Khan Shaghaghi.
