The seminary building next to the basilica was designed by József Hild and opened in 1865. After nationalisation it housed a military school from 1953, and from 1955 a Soviet military hospital, which remained in the building until 18 January 1990. The building was then returned to the Catholic Church and fully restored by 2006.
