The eight-building infantry barracks named after Archduke Friedrich were handed over in 1897; the owner was the City of Győr. After the Second World War they housed Soviet troops until 1948, when the complex was renamed after Rákóczi; in 1950–1957 it was used by the Hungarian army, and from 1957 to 1989 again by Soviet units. In 1993 the complex was listed as a monument; in 2005 it was acquired by the Austrian company Leier.
