The first, still grass, airfield near Csákvár was laid out between the two world wars. In the early 1970s Soviet troops built a concrete runway more than two kilometres long, a service road and twelve helicopter pads here. After the withdrawal of the Soviet troops the airfield remained state property and has been out of use since 1990.
