The anti-aircraft artillery barracks east of Ettersburger Strasse in Weimar were built in the mid-1930s; the first oath was taken here in November 1936. In July 1945, after the departure of American units, the complex was taken over by Soviet troops; in the mid-1970s it was substantially enlarged with garages for heavy vehicles and a filling station. The withdrawal from Weimar was completed on 21 November 1992. The buildings were then used for storage; in 1995 the complex was listed as a monument, but because of its poor condition the buildings were completely removed in 2011, and part of the site has been leased since 2010 to an association supporting people with disabilities.
