A 1.7-hectare cemetery on the slope below Belvedere Palace, established by the Soviet Military Administration; from 1946 to 1975 servicemen of units stationed around Weimar and civilian staff were buried here, about 2,000 burials in all. A four-sided travertine obelisk with the USSR coat of arms stands at its centre. The cemetery was under Soviet and then Russian administration until 1994, after which it passed to the City of Weimar; it is on the municipal monument list as part of Belvedere Park.
According to the City of Weimar, work began on 1 July 2025 to redesign the cemetery as a closed war burial site with funding from the State of Thuringia; completion was planned for the end of April 2026.
