Monument of the Encounter (Denkmal der Begegnung), Torgau
Памятник встрече на Эльбе в Торгау
A monument on the bank of the Elbe commemorating the meeting of Soviet and American troops on 25 April 1945. It was built to a design by Soviet architect Avraam Miletsky and completed in September 1945. Part of the annual Elbe Day commemoration takes place at the monument.
Памятник на берегу Эльбы в память о встрече советских и американских войск 25 апреля 1945 года. Построен по проекту советского архитектора Авраама Милецкого и завершён в сентябре 1945 года. Ежегодно в День Эльбы у памятника проходит часть памятных мероприятий.

According to the Saxon State Office for Monument Preservation (August 2019), the monument was undergoing full restoration for the 75th anniversary of the Elbe meeting with funding from the Federal Commissioner for Culture, the state office and a savings-bank foundation.
