The barracks complex on Jägerallee in Potsdam was built in 1826–1828 to designs by Karl Friedrich Schinkel for a training infantry battalion and extended in 1909–1910. After the Second World War it was taken over by the Red Army; until 1993 the whole site remained a closed military zone. The state property and construction agency then converted the complex into a justice centre, opened in 2008, and the former officers' mess became the seat of the Constitutional Court of Brandenburg.
