Beelitz-Heilstätten — Central Military Hospital of the Soviet Forces in Germany (1945–1994)

The Beelitz-Heilstätten sanatorium complex was built in 1898–1930 by Berlin's insurance institution and comprises about 60 buildings on roughly 200 hectares. At the end of the Second World War it was taken over by the Soviet Army and used until the final withdrawal in 1994 as a military hospital, the largest outside the USSR. Since 1994 some buildings have been restored for clinics and housing while others remain unused; the ensemble is a protected monument.
