The Neo-Russian church in the Orthodox section of Olšany Cemetery was founded on 11 September 1924 by Bishop Sergius (Korolev) and consecrated in November 1925. It was designed free of charge by Professor Vladimir Brandt with Nikolai Pashkovsky and Sergei Klodt; about four fifths of the funds were raised with the help of Karel Kramář, the first prime minister of Czechoslovakia, and his wife Nadezhda, who are buried in the crypt. Sketches for the mosaics and murals were made by Ivan Bilibin. Today the church belongs to the Prague Diocese of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.
