A three-storey building on the Bund erected for the Shanghai branch of the St Petersburg-based Russo-Chinese Bank (Russo-Asiatic Bank from 1910), through which construction of the Chinese Eastern Railway was financed. The bank bought lot No. 15 in 1899; the building, designed by German architect Heinrich Becker, opened in 1902 and was among the first in Shanghai with a lift. After the bank ceased operations in 1926 the building passed to the Central Bank of China.
