A parish has existed in the Majiagou district since 1912, when a wooden military church was moved here. The present masonry building, designed by the architect Smirnov, was founded in October 1930, built from May 1931 and consecrated on 6 October 1935. The church was closed in the second half of the 20th century; after repairs the building was handed to Harbin's Catholic community and has served as a Catholic church since Christmas 1980.
