The cavalry barracks beside the large parade ground (later the airfield) were built within a year and handed over in 1903. After the end of the Second World War they housed Soviet servicemen until the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Austria in 1955; the subsequent repair works lasted until 1961. The barracks were then used by Austrian army units; the last of them was disbanded in 2007, and in 2012 the barracks were sold.
