The Landwehr cavalry barracks were built in 1898 to a design by the architect Max Kropf and received the name of Prince Eugene in 1937–1938. In 1938–1945 the barracks were used by the Wehrmacht and then, until 1955, by Soviet troops; on 11 August 1955 the Soviet side handed them over to the town of Stockerau. In 1957 the barracks passed to the federal state in an exchange with the town, in 1958–1999 they housed the Austrian army, and in 2006 the whole site was sold.
