Санаторий «Шахтёр» построен в начале 1950-х как одна из самых представительных здравниц радонового курорта Цхалтубо. Колоннады в римском стиле, мраморные фасады, лепнина и балконы сочетаются с национальным грузинским орнаментом. На территории — цилиндрическая ротонда с радоновыми ваннами.
The Shakhtyor ("Miner") sanatorium was built in the early 1950s as one of the most imposing health resorts of the Tskaltubo radon spa. Roman-style colonnades, marble facades, stucco and balconies are combined with traditional Georgian ornamentation. On the grounds is a cylindrical rotunda with radon baths.
