The Zaisan Memorial on a hill south of Ulaanbaatar (1971-1979, architect A. Khishigt and others) is a concrete ring with mosaics and bas-reliefs honouring Soviet-Mongolian friendship and those who fell at Khalkhin Gol (1939) and in the Second World War. About 300 steps lead to the observation platform.
