Берлинская телебашня на Александерплац (1969, арх. Г. Гензельман и др.) высотой 368 м — самое высокое сооружение Германии и символ ГДР. Стальной шар со смотровой площадкой и вращающимся рестораном; в солнечную погоду на нём виден световой «крест», прозванный берлинцами «местью папы».

The Berlin Television Tower on Alexanderplatz (1969, architect H. Henselmann and others), 368 m tall, is the tallest structure in Germany and a symbol of the GDR. Its steel sphere holds an observation deck and a revolving restaurant; in sunny weather a luminous "cross" appears on it, nicknamed by Berliners "the pope's revenge."

Multiple credible sources (DDR Museum, berlinwalk.com, berliner-fernsehturm.info) consistently state the total construction cost exceeded 132 million East German marks — approximately four times the original budget. One Russian travel site (lifeglobe.net) cites 200 million marks, but this figure is not corroborated by specialist or museum sources and is likely an inflated estimate. The figure of 132 million marks from the DDR Museum is considered most authoritative.
