USSRСаратов1958–1965BridgesFunctionalism
A road bridge across the Volga linking Saratov and Engels (opened in 1965, engineer V. M. Iodzevich). At about 2,825 metres long, it was the longest bridge in Europe at the time of its opening; it was assembled from reinforced-concrete elements on 39 piers with a variable profile height to allow for navigation.

Construction cost

266 000 000 руб., 1965 prices
KP.ru (Komsomolskaya Pravda Saratov) explicitly states «266 миллионов рублей — сметная стоимость строительства» (266 million rubles — the estimated construction cost). This aligns with the architectureguru.ru source which states «более двухсот пятидесяти миллионов рублей» (more than 250 million rubles). The KP.ru figure is adopted as the primary value, being more precise. The price refers to the year of completion (1965), after the 1961 Soviet monetary reform, so RUB_1961 applies.
