The parish was founded in 1911 by the V. Rev. Seraphim Oblivantzeff; its first members were mainly immigrants from the Belarusian provinces of the Russian Empire. The first church on Bunker Avenue, completed in 1912, was later demolished for the construction of Interstate 691. The present building at 54 Park Avenue was erected in 1954–1955; its icons were painted by Ivan Dikey in the early 1960s.
