The first church, named the Saints Cyril and Methodius Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, was built in 1897 at Third and Modoc streets by Carpatho-Russian immigrants who mined coal in Indian Territory. The present red-brick building with three onion domes was constructed in 1917; it is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The parish belongs to the Diocese of the South of the Orthodox Church in America.
