The parish was founded in 1900 by immigrants from Austria-Hungary, Galicia and Russia; the first missionary priest visited Madison in 1899. The wooden church on Ewing Avenue was blessed in 1902 by Father John Kochuroff, rector of the Chicago parish; Archbishop Tikhon (Bellavin) presented the parish with a Gospel book and a bell. Ground was broken for a new church on the same site in 1962; it was built in 1964–1965 and consecrated on 6 June 1965 by Archbishop John of Chicago. The parish belongs to the Diocese of the Midwest of the Orthodox Church in America.
