The parish dates from 1846, when the Russian settlement of Ninilchik was founded. The present wooden church was built in 1901, after the Alaska purchase, under the direction of Alexi Andreev Oskolkoff of Sitka to replace an earlier church. Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places since 1978.
