1912Public buildings
A wooden church built soon after the village was founded in 1912 by people from Katmai who left their former home after the volcanic eruption. The exact construction date has not been documented; the Orthodox Church in America directory gives 1924 as the year the parish was founded. The building, about 57.5 feet long, consists of a vestibule, nave and altar, with an octagonal cupola and cross above the roof. It was listed on the US National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
