A community of immigrants from present-day Slovakia formed in 1900–1901 and was received into Orthodoxy by Bishop Tikhon (Bellavin) in 1903. The first church was destroyed by the Arkansas River flood of 1921; the Colorado Fuel & Iron company sold the parish a new site for one dollar, and the Rockefeller Foundation gave a grant for construction. The new church was completed in 1925 and consecrated on 15 September 1929. The parish belongs to the Diocese of the West of the Orthodox Church in America.
