The parish was formed in 1895; in 1899 the community bought a lot at Howard Avenue and Crescent Street, where the parishioners built a church with their own hands, dedicated in October 1900. On 25 January 1954 a fire gutted the interior; the ground for a new church on Howard Avenue was blessed in July 1954, the first liturgy in it was served on 20 November 1955, and it was dedicated in 1956. The bells of the earlier church, a gift from Emperor Nicholas II, were installed in the new building.
