The parish was founded in March 1915 by immigrants from the Russian Empire who worked in Berlin's logging and paper industries; the wooden church with six onion domes was built in five months and dedicated on 10 October 1915 by Archbishop Evdokim (Meschersky). The design is attributed to New York architect John Bergesen. The church closed in 1963 and reopened in 1974; it was listed on the US National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The parish belongs to the Diocese of New England of the Orthodox Church in America.
