The parish was founded by settlers from Galicia and the Carpatho-Russian region: the brotherhood received its charter in 1898, and the first Liturgy was served that year in rented premises. In 1899 the parishioners built the first church at 10 Seymour Street with their own labour; it was destroyed by fire two years later. In 1904 a house with land was bought at 46 Seymour Street; the present church was completed in 1905 and consecrated in 1906 by Bishop Tikhon (Bellavin). The parish belongs to the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America.
