The community was formed on 16 August 1916 under the guidance of Rev. Constantine Buketoff; a two-storey house at 226 Valley Street was bought and converted into a church and rectory. In November 1948 the parish acquired a lot at the corner of Valley Street and Mansfield Avenue; the foundation was poured in 1950, but for lack of funds the church was completed only in 1958. It was consecrated by Metropolitan Leonty on 13 September 1958.
