The parish in this coal-mining town was founded in July 1896 under Bishop Nicholas (Ziorov) of the Aleutians and Alaska. The frame church of the Holy Trinity was built in 1900 to replace a prayer house and was consecrated on 22 September 1902 by Bishop Tikhon (Bellavin). The building is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (No. 89001606). It now belongs to the joint Holy Trinity / Holy Resurrection parish (Tacoma) of the Diocese of the West of the Orthodox Church in America; services are held there on special days.
