Carpatho-Russian immigrants founded the Church of SS. Cyril and Methodius in New Britain; its first building was consecrated in December 1902 by Archbishop Tikhon (Bellavin). In 1913 the parish bought land on Washington Street and built a five-domed church dedicated to the Holy Trinity; Archbishop Platon blessed the cornerstone in October 1913. The parish belongs to the Diocese of New England of the Orthodox Church in America.
